Football team barricaded in dressing room and claim they were racially abused, stamped on and headbutted
Football players claim they had to barricade themselves in a dressing room after violence exploded at an amateur match.
Players from Poynton FC say they were racially abused, punched from behind, stamped on and headbutted when trouble flared at their Cheshire League clash with Penlake FC.
FA officials have suspended St Helens-based Penlake from all football and have launched disciplinary proceedings following the game which was abandoned and saw police called.
The Manchester Evening News understandstop-of-the-table Poynton were leading the Division Two match 2-1 when the referee sent a third Penlake player off.

Football match fixing: Two UK players charged over investigation into Far East betting syndicates
Two footballers from a senior non-league club have been charged with match-fixing.
Michael Boateng and Hakeem Adelakun, both 22, play for the Conference South side Whitehawk.
The National Crime Agency launched an investigation following allegations of match-fixing by Far East betting syndicates.
The players for the Brighton-based side are facing charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to common law.
