Pub aims to stop festive drink driving by letting customers sleep in free TENTS
A pub is providing tents to give drinkers a free overnight stay during the festive season.
The Drum and Monkey, near Upton-upon-Severn in Worcestershire, has taken the measures so drinkers who have an extra pint do not need to drive home.
Landlady Lizzie Jennings is also providing beds, sleeping bags and a free breakfast.
The tents can accommodate 19 people.
"It's for people who think they may have had one pint too many and don't want to risk it," said Jennings.
"It's a community service and part of being a responsible landlady."
But anti drink-driving charities have warned that people could still be unsafe to drive the following morning.
Carol Whittingham, from the Campaign Against Drinking and Driving, added: "It's a clever gimmick by an entrepreneurial landlady.
"You have to give her full marks for coming up with something that actually makes people talk about the issue."
The scheme will be running until New Year's Day.
