Prince Harry faces extreme weather as team gears up for charity trek
Prince Harry has been getting used to life in the sub-zero conditions of the Antarctic ahead of his charity trek with wounded servicemen and women.
The 29-year-old made some final adjustments to the kit he will be taking with him on the 200-mile expedition and took part in some skiing training to acclimatise.
Harry and the teams removed any non-essential items from the sleds they will haul to make them as light as possible.
Each person's kit has now been weighed ahead of their flight to the second base camp at 87 degrees south, which they hope to take on tomorrow, weather permitting.
The Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge 2013, of which Harry is patron, will see the participants race across three degrees to the South Pole.

Charity head: London slave women rescue 'miraculous'
Three "traumatised women" were kept as slaves have been freed after spending three decades imprisoned against their will in a city home, police said.
A 30-year-old British woman, a 57-year-old Irishwoman and a 69-year-old Malaysian woman are believed to have walked to their freedom from a property in south London after media coverage on forced marriages gave them the courage to contact a support charity.
Two people in their 60s have been arrested at the home this morning as part of the investigation into slavery and domestic servitude, Scotland Yard said.
It followed a call to police last month, from a charity on behalf of one of the alleged captives, who said she had been held captive for more than 30 years.

18 Oct 2012Freedom Charity, which aims to advise and support victims of forced marriages or honour-based violence, got in touch after they received a call following television coverage on forced marriages.
Aneeta Prem, Freedom Charity founder, said the women were very distressed when they were rescued but also very relieved to be free.
She said "When they contacted the charity it was very clear it was a once chance call to make a difference. They basically told us they were being held and they needed support to come out of a very difficult situation."
She added that the charity felt "very humbled" that they were able to assist in "something so miraculous".

Slave women victims 'relieved' to be free, says Freedom Charity founder Aneeta Prem
Follow our live blog on the latest in the slavery case
Three women alleged to have been held as slaves for 30 years have thanked the founder of the charity which helped rescue them for "saving their lives".
Aneeta Prem, founder of the Freedom Charity, told ITV's Daybreak programme she met the three women yesterday.
She said: "They're quite traumatised ... but they're very relieved to be out.
"When I met them, it was a very humbling experience. They all threw their arms around me, and apart from crying enormously, they thanked the charity for the work Freedom had done in saving their lives."

21 Nov 2013The women were rescued from a house in Lambeth in south London last month after one of them saw Ms Prem on TV and contacted her charity for help.
Ms Prem told Daybreak that it would be "a very long journey" to rehabilitate the women, one of whom is believed to have been imprisoned for her entire life.
She said: "If you have spent your entire life in captivity and know nothing different, then even the smallest freedoms, the smallest things, you have no knowledge of.
"It's going to be a difficult process. Bear in mind these ladies have left with absolutely nothing at all. The charity is going to have to try and help and support them through this difficulty journey."
Scotland Yard confirmed a couple in their 60s were arrested at the house and bailed last night as part of an investigation into slavery and domestic servitude.
The victims - a 30-year-old British woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 69-year-old Malaysian woman - are being looked after in a safe location.
The Irish woman contacted Freedom on October 18 to say she had been held against her will for more than 30 years, and that two others were held with her.
She and the British woman met charity workers and police on October 25 before returning to the address and rescuing the Malaysian woman.

Duchess of Cambridge arrives at children's charity event in Canary Wharf
The Duchess is patron of school-based mental health charity Place2Be which is hosting the event in London's Canary Wharf.
Speakers include clinician and broadcaster Professor Tanya Byron, who will address the issue of cyberbullying and how young people can stay safe online, and Professor Stephen Scott from King's College London, who will talk about helping parents to raise well-adjusted children.
The Duchess will meet the experts, who also include head teachers and the founder of an addiction treatment centre, after listening to their speeches at the offices of Clifford Chance.
Place2Be supports 75,000 children in more than 200 schools in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. The issues it helps children to deal with include bullying, bereavement and family breakdown.
Catherine and Prince William attended the head offices of crime prevention charity Only Connect on a joint engagement on Tuesday.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit young offenders charity
Only Connect, a crime prevention charity that works with prisoners, former criminals and young people at risk of offending, had invited the royal couple to see their headquarters to learn more about what they do.
At a nearby Only Connect venue, OC Central, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were treated to contemporary dance performances by the group Dance United and had the opportunity to meet those connected to the charity.
During the visit, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed that Prince George is "growing up fast" as she accepted the gift of a personalised babygro from a young ex-offender.
The Duchess was wearing a brown Orla Kiely buttoned-down bird-print dress, which she had previously worn on an engagement at The Art Room in Oxford in February 2012, with brown suede ankle boots and brown tights, while Prince William had on a dark blue suit and purple tie.
During the visit, the royal couple watched workshops being carried out by complementary projects Handmade Alliance, which trains prisoners to produce textiles for British designers, and Bounce Back, which offers training and employment in painting and decorating for offenders at the end of their sentences.

William and Kate to visit young offenders charity leaving Prince George with babysitters
Prince William and wife Kate will leave Prince George with babysitters today as they step out in support of young offenders.
The couple will spend this morning meeting staff and young people working with crime prevention charity Only Connect.
The visit is one of Kate's select few engagements before Christmas as she focuses on being a mum to four-month-old George.
In a trip that will thrust the work of the charity into the spotlight, she and William will look round Only Connect's central London head office and also watch a dance performance.
The organisation reaches 10,000 young people every year and their projects have been shown to reduce re-offending by half.
Helping former offenders is a cause close to William's heart.
He is patron of the St Giles Trust which helps ex prisoners get back on their feet and he visited their Camberwell offices earlier this month.
Kate, 31, will carry out a handful of engagements before Christmas as she focuses on being a hands-on mum to baby George.
Tomorrow she will make a solo visit to a forum in central London for her children's counselling charity Place2Be, which she became patron of in April.
William, however, has scaled up his royal duties since leaving the armed forces in September.
He has carried out several solo engagements in the past two months and also stepped in for the Queen at two investitures.
