Queen Victoria's daughter Princess Louise 'had illegitimate son with brother's tutor'
Queen Victoria's rebellious sixth daughter Princess Louise had an illegitimate child with her brother's tutor, a leading biographer has claimed.
Louise is thought to have given birth to a son, whose father was her brother Leopold's tutor Walter Stirling.
But soon after he was born, he was adopted by the son of Queen Victoria's gynaecologist, Frederick Locock.
Lucinda Hawksley, an art historian and biographer, says although she has been denied access to documents which would definitely prove whether the claims are true, she believes the existing evidence is more than simply circumstantial.
Having seen photos of the baby – named Henry – and his descendants, she said there was a "remarkable similarity" between them and members of the Royal Family.

24 Nov 2013She told the Today programme: "It is very intriguing how Walter Stirling was taken on by the Royal household and then four months later completely dismissed but still manages to retain an allowance and an assurance of his discretion.
"Then there was a baby who has no birth certificate, born in 1866/1867, and was adopted very hastily by the son of Queen Victorias gynaecologist, a chap called Sir Charles Locock."
She said Locock's descendants had been trying to obtain a DNA sample from Henry's coffin to prove the link.
"They attempted this last time in 2004," she said.
She added: "I have seen their family photos and there was a remarkable similarity between them and some members of the Royal Family.
His descendants say they were told by their relative he was the son of Princess Louise and that he was able to see her up until the age of 16.
It has previously been claimed that Princess Louise also had a lover – a sculptor named Joseph Boehm, who died while they were making love.

Queen and Duke of Edinburgh take in view from The Shard
The Queen asked for a bird's eye view of Buckingham Palace as she looked across London's skyline from the top of The Shard today.
The Queen went up western Europe's tallest building, standing at 1,016ft high, with the Duke of Edinburgh as the royal couple visited the London borough of Southwark today.
The royal couple peered through an interactive telescope on the landmark's 69th floor, before braving the cold weather on the 800ft high open-air viewing gallery of the building at London Bridge.
Dressed in a matching purple coat and hat, the Queen remarked that St Paul's Cathedral looked "quite small" as she walked around the 360 degree gallery, known as The View.
"It's interesting, the different views and how people can see their houses," she said.

The Queen is to appoint aristocrat who converted to Islam as her High Sheriff
While the Prince of Wales has been praising the unifying strengths of the Commonwealth, the Queen is preparing for an eye-catching appointment back home.
Mandrake hears that an aristocrat who converted to Islam has been nominated to be the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire, the monarch’s representative in the county.
The Earl of Yarborough, who uses the name Abdul Mateen, will take the unpaid role next year.
On the death of his father in 1991, he inherited the bulk of the £68 million estate, which includes Brocklesby Park in Lincolnshire, 27,500 acres of farmland, and one of Britain’s finest private art collections.
His father was quite a character. At his village carol service, he once read the lesson about the shepherds deserting their flocks to see the baby in Bethlehem.

A Mandrake plant?
Her husband's ancestral home, Alnwick Castle, pictured above, doubles as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, but the Duchess of Northumberland could be the new J K Rowling.
Rowling’s publisher, Bloomsbury, is to publish a series of novels inspired by the duchess and the Poison Garden she created at Alnwick.
The books will be about a half-human, half-plant creature called Weed, who is given miraculous powers by innocuously eating poisonous and hallucinogenic herbs, which he uses to fight evil.
Bloomsbury is also in talks about a possible television series and a film dramatisation. Sounds wizard.

Queen jokes with Antarctic trekkers
Three teams of Walking With The Wounded trekkers were introduced to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh by Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace today.
The Prince, who is the charity's patron, will race with the UK team of injured soldiers as they battle it out on the frozen wasteland this winter.
He took the opportunity to show his grandparents some of the kit they will be taking with them.
Actor Dominic West, who starred in the hit US TV show The Wire, will join the Commonwealth team in the South Pole Allied Challenge 2013 against groups from the UK and the US.
The Walking With The Wounded teams are making their final preparations for the 200-mile expedition before they set off on Sunday.

Queen and Duchess of Cornwall visit London riding centre
The Queen indulged her passion for all things equestrian when she met young riders from an inner city club.
The Duchess of Cornwall invited the Queen to the centre in Brixton, south London, that she has supported for a number of years. The visit was a rare joint event for the Queen and Camilla, who both share a love of horses.
Breeding thoroughbreds for racing is a passion for the Queen, who has seen her horses win classic races, while the Duchess is a keen rider.

Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visit Sussex fishery
The royal couple were shown more than 40 varieties of fish caught off the Sussex coast by a local fleet during their tour of the West Quay Fisheries, which has been open for almost 40 years.
Crab, lobsters, monk fish, conger eel and squid were all displayed on ice for the Queen and Philip to inspect at the family-run fish company in Newhaven, East Sussex.
The firm, based on the quayside of the River Ouse, sells fish to shops, restaurants as well as at an on-site shop direct to the public.
Shop manager Kerry Bickerstaff, 37, who has worked at the firm for 20 years, said: "It's an honour. We had the Duke of Kent about 10 years ago but I have never met the Queen before. It's great news for the community to have her here."
