Stand Out The Leading Fashion Site Reports Christmas Boom

With the global media reporting a reduction in disposable income across Europe, it might be expected that fashion, and certainly fashion gifts would be one of the first items cut from the Christmas shopping list. However, at least one fashion store reports encouraging sales over the Christmas period, and most significantly in some of the bigger brand and higher-end items. Director of Stand-Out.net Roger Martin reported that; “our best sellers have been purchases for gifts, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren and Diesel 3 pack underwear. Levis Jeans have been very popular”

Stand-Out.net monitor their website traffic carefully each month, and note that some of the more prominent searches over the Christmas period revolved around more affordable brands such as Cross Hatch, as well as generic phrases such as “cheap designer clothes”. Much of the site's traffic has also come from social networks where sale items and promotions have been very popular. It would seem that in these times of austerity people are not willing to compromise on brand, but they will look to pay a little less for it. Mr Martin summed it up with “you can't go wrong with a good pair of Levi's 501's”.

One of the leading new trends in men's fashion over the past year has been the increased popularity of the pattern knit. This has been one of the surprising trend changed during 2013, as traditionally the pattern knit has been a cliché for Christmas jumper. The pattern knits were a top seller at Stand- Out.net this Christmas, with many likely to have seen the advantage of buying an urba cool jumper, which also doubles as a more than adequate Christmas jumper for the work's party. 2013 was a good year for Stand-Out.net and many other fashion outlets, and 2014 is expected to see a continued rise in sales. The industry has grown year on year since 2009, and there is no reason to see that to change going into 2014.

Stand-Out.net continue to move with the times and are planning new brands for 2014, as well as continued promotions to make the more desirable fashion items within reach of consumers’ pockets.

Fiverr Press Release From $5 With Powerful Results

Did you know that Fiverr Press Release can help you to generate exposure online as well as helping you build large number of links to help your site become more powerful with Google. Have a read about the Fiverr Press Release which is from $5 and see how you cannot only get more exposure for your website, business, product or service, but also how you can generate links to your business, all from just $5

If you are serious about promoting your website or your online business then have a look at how a press release from just $5 can generate you traffic, exposure and plenty of quality links for months to come

One of the best ways to gain links is through a press release. the reason why more and more marketing professionals are using press releases for online marketing is to not only gain exposure and drive traffic but to generate long lasting quality links that will continue to multiply.
Imagine, you have a high quality press release and then you have it distributed to press release distribution sites, the more the better, then each time it is distributed you will gain a link but it does not stop there.

When someone comes along to that press release distribution site looking for quality news etc, they will then either copy the whole of that press release and put it on their site or they will write an article using the press release, which ever way they do it, they are helping you to generate more quality links.

So imagine, you have a press release distributed to 15 PR sites, ten people come along to each one of those sites and writes an article (now more people will come along over a long period of time so I am just using this as an example), that means by using just one press release you are receiving 150 quality links.

Now imagine this going on and on and on, just by using one press release you are not only helping to generate exposure for your website and business, you are also helping to gain quality links to your website and improve your Google Ranking.

Now check out our Fiverr Press Release service and see how we can help you. fiverr.com/in2town/professional-press-release-service-by-journalists

Royal Marine jailed for life for murdering wounded Taliban fighter 'in cold blood'

. It's nothing you wouldn't do to us.”

Blackman, a 15-year veteran in the marines, then turned to his patrol and said: "Obviously this doesn't go anywhere, fellas. I just broke the Geneva Convention."

WARNING: AUDIO CLIP CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE

listen to ‘Audio recorded during Royal Marine patrol in Afghanistan’ on Audioboo You treated that Afghan man with contempt and murdered him in cold blood.

Judge Jeff Blackett

Two other soldiers, known only as Marine B and Marine C, were acquitted of murder by the court martial board in Bulford, Wiltshire last month.

They were thought to have "encouraged and assisted" in the murder but were later cleared.

Blackman, known as Marine A throughout the trial, denied the murder claiming he believed the insurgent was already dead.

However today Judge Jeff Blackett told him: "You treated that Afghan man with contempt and murdered him in cold blood.

"By doing so you have betrayed your corps and all British service personnel who have served in Afghanistan, and you have tarnished their reputation."

The judge said he took into account that many had supported the marine for  his "killing within conflict" but said that these members of the public "are very wrong".

Our £300,000 bill for asylum seekers to stay at luxury hotel

Council leader Matthew Colledge said: “To be given less than 48 hours’ notice of the imposition of a large contingent of asylum seekers is frankly ludicrous.

“It is intensely irritating that, as council leader, I have had no opportunity to influence the decision at all. I recognise some asylum seekers are escaping from appalling situations but schools and GPs’ surgeries are already full.”

The Labour group leader David Acton agreed. He said: “This is an appalling situation, an absolute shambles and unacceptable.”

A spokesman for Serco said yesterday: “We are currently using the Amblehurst Hotel to temporarily accommodate a number of asylum seekers.

“In due course, these people will be found further housing throughout the North-west of England pending the outcome of reviews into their eligibility to claim asylum.”

Worst storm for 60 years leaves trail of destruction across Britain

Tony Evans, senior watch manager at Dover Coastguard, said: “With one of the worst tidal surges we’ve seen in recent years, we would urge members of the public to take extra care when walking along our coastline.”

The tidal surge brought a pod of porpoises swimming up the Thames to central London yesterday.

The Metropolitan Police Marine Policing Unit initially thought they were dolphins but later revealed them to be harbour porpoises which usually live around estuaries.

Marine conservationist Stephen Mowat said: “They follow prey up the river so with the high tides they get more fish further up the Thames.”

Winds are due to die down today although plunging temperatures will bring the risk of ice across the North.

The Met Office said temperatures will be in single figures in the South.

Forecaster Laura Young said another area of low pressure was expected to move towards the UK next week although it will not cause a repeat of the extreme weather of the past two days.

Airport chaos 'computer problem' causes long passenger delays until at least 2pm today

"Engineers are working to rectify the problem as soon as possible."

Travel expert Simon Calder said the problem was a "disaster" for travellers, while aviation analyst David Learmount aviation analyst David Learmount compared the issue to rebooting a personal computer.

"They've tried to bring some of the equipment online but not all is working satisfactory," he told Sky News.

"Unfortunately what happens after that is even if they get things back on right now there's going to be some delays for the remainder of the day."

The Stansted spokesman said: "There are restrictions on the air space and the flow of aircraft. Our first departures go at 6am, so that's when the problems started."

A spokeswoman for Gatwick Airport said: "There are some issues with the air traffic control system.

"The result of it is that, at the moment, 20 per cent of our flights are being delayed, by anything up to a couple of hours, but we're getting people moving and getting them away.

"There are no problems with arrivals at the moment."

Passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest situation.

On its website, Ryanair apologised for any inconvenience, writing: "Ryanair has been advised of an equipment failure within UK air traffic control which will cause significant flight delays and possible cancellations."

Passanger Daisy McAndrew said she had been caught in the "unholy mess" at Gatwick as she tried to fly to Barcelona for work.

"As ever, staff have been fantastic but they know nothing other than the fact it is going to be a very, very long delay - very frustrating," Ms McAndrew told Sky News.

"And also, it's embarrassing, isn't it? When you look around a lot of people on my plane are not British, they are flying British Airways, they are probably trying to get back to Spain and they will inevitably be thinking this is something that could have possibly been prevented.

"It doesn't show our air traffic control system or our travel system in a good light.

"I have never heard of an example where every single plane is grounded - it's quite eerie when I look out of the window to see the tarmac in Gatwick, normally so busy, and also the sky above Gatwick which is normally busy - completely static, there's nothing moving."

'Imbalance of gut bacteria may increase risk of bowel cancer'

Patients with bowel cancer have fewer "friendly" bugs in their gut than healthy peopleNew research suggests an imbalance of bacteria in the gut may increase the risk of bowel cancer.

Scientists found patients with the disease had fewer "friendly" bugs and more harmful bacteria than healthy people.

Study leader Dr Jiyoung Ahn, from New York University Cancer Institute in the United States, said: "Our findings are important because identification of these microbes may open the door for colorectal cancer prevention and treatment."

Many thousands of bacteria live in the gut, playing an important role in regulating food digestion and inflammation.

The researchers compared the DNA of intestinal microbes in the stool samples of 141 bowel cancer patients and healthy volunteers.

They found that patient samples had larger populations of Fusobacteria - a type of bug commonly found in the mouth and gastro-intestinal tract associated with gut inflammation.

At the same time the bowel cancer patients were more likely to be lacking Clostridia, a class of "friendly" gut bacteria that help digest dietary fibre and carbohydrates.

"Our next step is to study how diet and lifestyle factors modulate these gut bacteria associated with colorectal cancer," said Dr Ahn.

"This may lead to ways to prevent this disease."

The findings are reported in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Tragic: Pilot David Traill will be laid to rest todayThe funeral of the pilot killed in the Glasgow police helicopter crash will take place this morning.

Experienced civilian airman Captain David Traill, 51, was one of nine who died when the aircraft plunged on to the roof of the Clutha bar in the city on November 29.

The ex-RAF pilot's funeral will be held at Glasgow University.

Mr Traill's employers have described him as "the epitome of the consummate professional".

During his time in the RAF, he served in both Gulf wars, Bond Air Services said.

Mr Traill also spent time as an instructor during his military career.

"His untimely death has been deeply felt by his family, friends and colleagues who mourn his passing with a sense of intense loss and sorrow," his employer said.

The pilot, originally from Falkirk, had a career that spanned 26 years.

His role as a civilian pilot for both the Glasgow-based Scottish Air Ambulance and Police Scotland was said to have brought him a great deal of happiness and job satisfaction.

Bond added: "As a former RAF pilot and instructor, Dave had 20 years of service flying the Chinook in places as varied as Norway and Bosnia.

"He served his country in both Gulf wars and formed part of the Chinook 2007 display team before joining Bond Air Services as a commercial pilot in 2008.

"Dave Traill was an esteemed colleague, a legend amongst his peers and above all, everyone's friend.

"Never short of a witty comeback, it went hand in hand with his dry sense of humour.

"Taken from us too early, he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and friendship.

"We will miss him."

The other crew members who died in the incident were police constables Kirsty Nelis, 36, and Tony Collins, 43.

Six people died inside the pub where live music was being played at the time.

They were Robert Jenkins, 61, Mark O'Prey, 44, Colin Gibson, 33, John McGarrigle, 57, Gary Arthur, 48, and Samuel McGhee, 56.

Autumn statement: George Osborne refuses to learn the lessons of the past

George Osborne (L) and Danny Alexander (R) leave the Treasury in central LondonGetty

The Chancellor likes to talk about taking 'tough decisions' and 'cleaning up Labour's mess'.  Truth be told, he does neither.

From the national level - where our debt continues to rise - to the family level - where schemes like Help-to-Buy are fueling another potentially disastrous housing bubble - George Osborne refuses to learn the lessons of the past.

Voters believe our political elite collectively failed to spot the dangers of an economy built on debt.

Hard working families have paid a heavy price for government mistakes. They are

Cy Chadwick sex charge: Former Emmerdale star appears in court accused of indecent assault on boy

Emmerdale Star Cy Chadwick at Leeds Magistrate CourtRoss Parry

A former Emmerdale star has denied indecently assaulting a boy in the 1980s.

Cy Chadwick, 44, who played bad boy Nick Bates for more than a decade, appeared at Leeds magistrates court today.

He pleaded not guilty to the allegation which involves a boy under 14.

The alleged assault took place at a time when Chadwick regularly appeared in the ITV soap.

Magistrates were told the charge relates to an offence which took place between September 1985 and September 1988.

The actor was 16 years old and had joined the Yorkshire-based soap the previous year.

Chadwick, of Leeds, West Yorks., who left the show in the 1990s to work in TV production, confirmed his date of birth and address in court on Thursday morning before entering a not guilty plea.

Due to the nature of the alleged crime, JPs made the decision to move his case to Leeds Crown Court after a brief hearing.

He was released on bail to appear there later this month.

The actor was one of the longest serving in the hit soap. His character was sent to jail for arson.

Pub aims to stop festive drink driving by letting customers sleep in free TENTS

Chas Breton Photography

A pub is providing tents to give drinkers a free overnight stay during the festive season.

The Drum and Monkey, near Upton-upon-Severn in Worcestershire, has taken the measures so drinkers who have an extra pint do not need to drive home.

Landlady Lizzie Jennings is also providing beds, sleeping bags and a free breakfast.

The tents can accommodate 19 people.

"It's for people who think they may have had one pint too many and don't want to risk it," said Jennings.

"It's a community service and part of being a responsible landlady."

But anti drink-driving charities have warned that people could still be unsafe to drive the following morning.

Carol Whittingham, from the Campaign Against Drinking and Driving, added: "It's a clever gimmick by an entrepreneurial landlady.

"You have to give her full marks for coming up with something that actually makes people talk about the issue."

The scheme will be running until New Year's Day.

Motorcycle champion arrested after wife's honeymoon death in Dubai

SEANY555/TWITTER By News agencies

11:05AM GMT 05 Dec 2013

A motorcycle champion has been arrested at Heathrow airport over the death of his wife on their honeymoon in Dubai.

Father-of-three Sean Emmett, 43, was held by officers as he stepped off a plane as police probed the circumstances surrounding how Abbie Emmettt plunged to her death from their hotel room in Dubai.

She was killed just days after the newly-weds had arrived in the United Arab Emirates following their wedding in Cape Town, South Africa, in February.

Dubai authorities had investigated the 27-year-old's death, but found no suspicious circumstances and believed it to be a suicide leap from a window.

Mr Emmett, now a retired professional MotoGP rider, was quoted in the media at the time as saying: "I did not kill my wife – it was an accident."

Nigella Lawson denies Charles Saatchi was wiping cocaine off nose during Scott's row, court hears

By Gordon Rayner, Chief Reporter

11:30AM GMT 05 Dec 2013

Follow

Nigella Lawson has denied that her ex-husband Charles Saatchi was wiping cocaine off her nose when a row in a restaurant that led to their divorce.

Miss Lawson, giving evidence for a second day in the fraud trial of two former aides, said Mr Saatchi was guilty of "peddling" lies about the reason for the June bust-up in Scott's in Mayfair.

She also denied a suggestion that she had "lied" to police about her drug use, or that her admission in court yesterday to using cocaine and cannabis amounted to "damage limitation".

Karin Arden, defending Francesca Grillo, who with her sister Elisabetta is accused of fraudulently spending £685,000 on a company credit card, asked Miss Lawson why her admission to taking drugs had not appeared on a police statement she gave when she said she no longer wanted to give evidence.

She had said in the statement that she did not want to give evidence because Mr Saatchi was spreading "false" claims about drug-taking, and Miss Arden said: "You were not frank with police officers. You told a lie because it's not correct to say stories about drugs were untrue."

Miss Lawson said: "It was true in that what my ex-husband had been saying was he was getting cocaine out of my nose at Scott's and I had been completely off my head for 10 years."

Mimicking the motion of Mr Saatchi pinching her nose, she said: "He went like this. It was not only because I hadn't taken cocaine but it was also the case that Mr Saatchi was not examining me for cocaine. That was a story that he made up afterwards because I would not go back and clear his name."

Miss Arden wanted to show the jury a photograph of the incident but was prevented by the judge from doing so.

Miss Arden suggested that Miss Lawson had "used" the case "as a vehicle" to settle scores with Mr Saatchi in front of the world's press.

She replied: "I didn't want to come to court, I would prefer not to because I had been menaced...I prefer to keep my private life private and I was prevented from doing that."

She added: "I'm not proud of the fact that I have taken drugs but that does not make me a drug addict or habitual drug user."

Miss Arden said: "The simple fact is that yesterday in cross-examination only was the first time that you have publicly said that you have taken cocaine and cannabis, and I suggest that on your part was a case of damage limitation."

Miss Lawson said: "I was asked a question and I responded...I have been frank, I have said what I needed to say and I would rather be honest, if ashamed, and explain about the drug usage but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to be bullied and have lies told about an incident that took place in a very humiliating public place."

Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo deny fraud. The case continues.

05 Dec 2013

Miss Lawson said: "I would say I had dinner parties once on a two-year basis at Eaton Square (the marital home in west London). I was not happy about that.

"I can hardly remember a dinner party at Eaton Square. Mr Saatchi likes to take people out to Scott's restaurant."

It was following a row at Scott's, when Mr Saatchi was photographed grabbing his wife by the throat, that the couple split up and later divorced.

Miss Lawson told the jury that Mr Saatchi was very particular about the way his house was kept, objecting strongly to the suggestion that being in charge of housekeeping was "the job of a woman".

She said: "It was Mr Saatchi's job and my job. He would go round and point at marks he wanted removed. He is a person with a tremendous eye for detail."

Mr Saatchi was also particular about his food. While the weekly shopping would be ordered from Waitrose and delivered by Ocado, Miss Grillo was "very involved in the purchasing of Mr Saatchi's eggs" and would also be sent out for his Frappucino coffees.

She said Francesca and her sister and co-defendant Elisabetta would, like other aides, order food for the house.

"We would have the Ocado order up and people would shout out 'we need this, we need that'. I would say (to the Grillos) 'do you want ravioli as a treat' in the same way that I would buy the others something."

Miss Lawson also liked to treat her staff to days out and gifts, including an outing to Brussels with all of her aides to shop in a Christmas market.

Asked about her aides' other duties, she said: "I'm afraid to say I make them appear on my television programmes. When I'm testing a recipe they write it down."

They did not, however, look after her Twitter account. "I do my own Twitter account," she said.

She also said she was "quite happy to do the washing up" but Mr Saatchi "didn't want me washing up" so he would phone Miss Grillo and ask her to do it.

The Grillo sisters were treated "like family" and took Miss Lawson and Mr Saatchi's children from their previous marriages on up to five foreign holidays per year, to locations including New York, San Tropez and Italy.

Miss Arden suggested Miss Lawson had a "penchant for all things Italian" and she replied: "I do, and I don't see how that could ever be interpreted by anyone as a criticism."

She admitted to phoning Miss Grillo when the aide was on holiday in Spain to ask her if she knew where the TV remote control was.

"That would have made Mr Saatchi incredibly irritable," she said. "I have made a lot of similar phone calls over the years."

The court also heard that the couple had a 12ft x 12ft "silver room" full of tea and coffee services and candlesticks.

Miss Lawson said she was "very glad to see that back of it" when the couple moved, and asked if she ever cleaned it said: "I like cleaning silver and I like cleaning shoes. It's a wonderful task, I find it very therapeutic."

Asked if Miss Grillo was allowed to withdraw up to £800 per month cash on the credit card to pay a specialist silver cleaning firm, she said: "Francesca had a great job as a cleaner who could employ other cleaners," but doubted that the couple spent up to £9,600 per year hiring people to do something that "a bit of Duraglit" would sort out.

Nigella Lawson tells court: 'I would never make my children orphans through drug addiction'

By Gordon Rayner, Chief Reporter

Nigella Lawson has told a court she would never risk making her children "orphans" by becoming addicted to cocaine or other drugs.

She also denied she kept a stash of cocaine in a box with her late husband's wedding ring as she ended two days of evidence in the fraud trial of two former aides.

Miss Lawson told a jury her ex-husband Charles Saatchi knew she had taken cocaine with her first husband John Diamond during his battle with terminal cancer, and she had never promised him that she would not take drugs again.

On an afternoon when defence barristers repeatedly clashed with Miss Lawson as well as the judge in the case, Miss Lawson was told not to answer whether her children had given her a Mother's Day card with a cannabis "spliff" taped to the front.

Miss Lawson became increasingly emotional and told defence barrister Karin Arden: "If you want to put me on trial, put me on trial, but I cannot think that it's right to have me here as a witness for the Crown and treat me like this."

Miss Arden suggested to Miss Lawson that her drug use was a "dark, guilty secret" in her marriage.

She replied: "In respect of the cocaine use when my first husband died, Mr Saatchi knew about it." Asked if she made him a promise that "that was the end of it", she replied: "No, I did not make a promise. Mr Saatchi has phoned up newspapers saying a promise had been extracted and broken, it's not true."

The court heard that Miss Lawson had a jewellery box in the shape of a hollowed out book, in which she kept jewellery inherited from her grandmothers and mother and E wedding rings worn by her and Mr Diamond.

Miss Arden said she also kept cocaine in the box, which had at one point been found by her daughter. She said: "I did not."

She also denied that she frequently had a "runny nose" or whites powder around her nose, and that cannabis dealers turned up at her house to sell her drugs.

She said: "I promise you if I took the drugs to the extent you say I would not be standing here today.

"You know as well as I do that regular cocaine users don't look like this, they're scrawny. If you think I'm going to sabotage my health and run the risk of leaving my children orphans you are very wrong."

Miss Arden asked: "Do you agree that you received a Mother's Day card in 2011 or 2012 with a spliff taped to the card saying 'To enjoy later'?"

Judge Robin Johnson stepped in and told Miss Arden: "That ends your cross-examination. I'm not having any more. You have exhausted my patience."

He told Miss Lawson not to answer the question.

Earlier, Miss Lawson rejected the suggestion that she allowed a former aide to "spend, spend, spend" on a company credit card when she and Charles Saatchi sold their home for £25 million.

Francesca Grillo is accused of fraudulently spending £580,000 on the credit card, which Miss Lawson described as "disgusting, greedy".

She said it was "totally implausible" that she would allow Miss Grillo to spend as much on clothes for a "treat" in one transaction as some people spend on a car.

Karin Arden, defending Miss Grillo, who denies fraud, suggested to Miss Lawson that she loosened the family purse strings when she and Mr Saatchi put their home in Eaton Square, west London, on the market for £37m.

Miss Arden suggested that Miss Lawson had allowed Miss Grillo to spend £5,205 on a jacket and dresses in Miu Miu as a reward for all her hard work keeping the house clean for prospective buyers to see it.

"You told her to buy them on the credit card because she deserved it," Miss Arden suggested.

"Five thousand pounds?! Why on earth would I do that?" Miss Lawson replied. "There are cars that cost that much money."

Miss Arden said: "You were trying to sell the house for £37m, it was giddy money and you told her to treat herself."

Miss Lawson, who said she had not personally profited from the eventual £25m sale of Mr Saatchi's house, rejected this.

Miss Lawson has now finished giving evidence, having spent almost two full days in the witness box.

James Cracknell burgled while in hospital

Mr Cracknell still suffers health problems following a road accident three years ago which nearly killed him Photo: ANDREW CROWLEY By Ben Farmer

7:47PM GMT 05 Dec 2013

Burglars broke into the home of Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell while he was in hospital, and stole more than £20,000 of personal possessions and bicycles.

The thieves struck while his wife, Beverley Turner, and his three children were asleep upstairs at their home in West London.

Mr Cracknell still suffers health problems following a road accident three years ago which nearly killed him, and he was in Charing Cross Hospital overnight for tests.

He told The Telegraph: "It's terrifying to think that thieves broke into my home while I was away and my family were sleeping upstairs.

“I am especially upset about a camera which has gone containing irreplaceable family photos."

The thieves broke into the side of his semi-detached house and stole four bicycles as well as personal belongings.

Police are appealing for help to trace the distinctive bikes, including a red and white Pinarello Prince and three top-of-the-range black and white Merida mountain bikes.

Ms Turner said: “Although I'm not a fan of bicycles cluttering up our garage, I do feel sorry for James as he has spent years forming a collection of his favourites. I'm just grateful that my children were not hurt in any way.”

Mr Cracknell, a double Olympic gold medal winner, was left with a brain injury after being struck from behind by a petrol tanker during an attempt to cycle, row, run and swim from Los Angeles to New York.

The crash in Arizona in July 2010 injured the frontal lobes of the 41-year-old’s brain, which govern personality. It left him with epilepsy, a short temper, bouts of aggression and memory loss.

A thief also broke into his home in 2006. The medals Cracknell won in the coxless fours in Sydney in 2000 and Athens four years later were stolen along with £200,000 worth of laptops, watches and jewellery.

A man was jailed for three years for the theft.

The trio met on the red carpet, which was actually blue in line with the night's winter theme, before they took to the stage to perform Livin' on a Prayer. There was speculation last night that the second in line to the throne also used an air guitar for his performance.

The Duke joked he would start twerking as he met young people who had been helped by the charity, at the event at Kensington Palace.

Other guests at the event included Benedict Cumberbatch, James Blunt and Tinie Tempah.

Danielle Alexandra, gala convenor, said the event took six months to create. "But really it all comes down to the prince, who is a remarkable man," she said. "He wanted to do whatever he could to help the cause."

The Duke, who has been a patron of the Centrepoint charity since September 2005, presented the Centrepoint Great Britain Youth Inspiration Award to Bon Jovi for his humanitarian work.

Bon Jovi, who also performed, founded Soul Foundation in the United States in 2006 which aims to break the cycle of people falling into poverty and homelessness by helping them gain access to food and affordable housing along with job training programmes.

Bon Jovi said: "Nights like this happen once in a lifetime but the chance to affect change can last a lifetime.

"Each one of you tonight have that chance to affect change."
